It’s been said that we’re a nation of shopkeepers. In my family’s case that’s partly true. My great great granddad had a camera shop in Cheetham Hill, Manchester from the 1900s; my great aunt Florrie worked in a pet shop on the famous Tib Street in the centre of Manchester from a teenager until she was 75; my parents had a menswear shop in St. Helens which was subsequently taken over by my brothers @SideWalkMens; and I worked in menswear shops in the Manchester Arndale and Liverpool St. Johns all through my teenage years.

The high street and in particular independent local shops are so important as they provide us with a wealth of different offerings as well as providing a living for many families.

I love the @Visa Christmas ad promoting the high street and buying from businesses local to you. In a time where it’s so easy to order everything online and the high street is in demise, I’m trying this year to buy at least some of the Christmas presents and groceries from local independents and the town’s high street #whereyoushopmatters

On the subject of keeping it local I provide a personal face-to-face service to help businesses in the Warrington, Widnes, Runcorn and the surrounding areas minimise their energy use and spend. So, if you run a local business and want the best #utilitysolution please contact me.

Happy December especially to all my local clients! #lovewarrington
