Whilst many businesses, particularly shops and restaurants, remain open across the Christmas and New Year period, others are fortunate to close on Christmas Eve and re-open on 2nd January. Whilst your business is closed, your clients may still be working and keen to do business.

Here are some tips to ensure your business remains connected

Main switchboard answer script – It’s a good idea to update this prior to your business closing down for the festive season so your customers are aware in advance of changes to your opening times; staff can also add planned holidays into their email signatory in advance.

Individual direct dial voicemail – Make sure all your staff update their voicemail to inform new and existing customers of when they will next be available; and don’t forget to wish them season’s greetings!

Voicemail to email – If your business has a suitable VoIP system, voicemail can be set to pick up calls and forward them to email so you can receive notification and decide on appropriate action.

Call diversion – If you don’t want to miss a call at all whilst your business is closed, divert calls from your main business number to another landline or mobile number.

Emergency Contacts – If your telecoms system has a fault, make sure you have the appropriate contact numbers to hand for your telecoms supplier to minimise down time.

And in the New Year, make it a resolution to review your telecoms contract and package. You could be over-paying!
